Youth Club Championships are Great but Costs are High for Kids

Here’s an email I recently sent to parents of Youth Club Championship team players to ask for scholarship donations. Take a look and let me know if you’d be interested in donating.

Dear Friends,

As long as I have been in charge of general manager duties for DiscNW’s 3 Youth Club Championship teams (Open U19, Girls U19, Coed U19) –  there have always been participants and families in need of financial support. Last year DiscNW set aside $7000 in scholarship dollars and we raised an additional $2470 in fundraising and donations from parents.

This year DiscNW has upped the amount and agreed to donate $7500 to help kids get to Blaine, MN but unfortunately the need is still higher because we are sending two additional teams (Open U16 and Girls U16) this year and there are already a significant number of scholarship applications in this year. Last year we had 18 scholarship applications. This year we already at 31 applications!

We understand that it is difficult for families to give in this economy. As parents of YCC participants, you have a unique perspective on how special and valuable this experience is for our players. If you are able, please consider a tax-deductible donation to DiscNW’s Youth Development Fund. Although the dollars donated do not automatically get funneled to YCC – if we have more money in the fund we’ll have more opportunities to draw money out of it.

If you have a business that would be interested in sponsorship we could work out a package where a company logo would be printed on the website and mentioned on our twitter feed.

Please send checks payable to “DiscNW” with “YDF/YCC” on the memo line and mail them to:

Thank you for your time and consideration.
