That’s a picture of my tattoo. It’s my first and only tattoo (thus far) and I got it because I lost a bet to a bunch of high school kids. My friend Doug and I started coaching at Franklin HS in Seattle 3 years ago with a coed team.
We had a fairly successful year and got into the playoffs. To motivate the team, Doug and I told our kids that we’d get a Franklin ultimate tattoo if they won the championship.
So Doug got this tattoo on the inside of his bicep and I got it right back shoulder. (We did get to see the design beforehand and thought it was way rad!)
This week was the start of our third season at Franklin HS. What started as one co-ed team of about 15 kids is now 2 boys and 2 girls team. We have about 40 kids total showing up to practice this year and we have 2 more coaches for our girls teams.
If you didn’t know – Seattle is home to one of the most successful youth programs in the country. DiscNW runs the Seattle Public School’s Fall League and runs a league in the spring for all schools in the elementary school, middle school and high school division.
The best teams in Seattle have mostly been private schools (Northwest School, Lakeside, Seattle Academy, etc) but now every Seattle public high school has a team except West Seattle HS and Rainier Beach. Soon it’ll be the public schools who’ll be on top (IMHO)!
Keep your eyes open for the Franklin HS this season. Don’t sleep on us! Make them QUAKE!
